About My Practice
Hi there! I’m Maria N. Ramírez Walter. I’ve been working in the mental health field for over 20 years, and before becoming a therapist, I was a client myself. I know how intimidating it can feel to start counseling, especially in those first few sessions. My goal right from the start is to help you feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I’ll walk you through my style so you can get a sense of whether we’re a good fit, because the connection between us is one of the biggest factors in how helpful therapy can be. Feeling at ease in your sessions matters, and I’m here to make sure you have that space.
My Mission
My mission is to offer high-quality counseling to individuals, teens and couples who are going through emotional challenges. I take a client-centered approach, which means I work closely with you to understand what you want to achieve and figure out how I can help you get there!. My goal is to support you in a way that feels personal, collaborative, and genuinely helpful.

My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude. I want you to feel safe and supported, and to have a space where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings. My goal is to help you build the tools and skills that allow you to truly thrive.
With over 20 years of experience, I work with each person to find the approach that fits them best. Everyone has different needs and personalities, so therapy shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.
I tend to start with cognitive behavioral therapy, positive psychology, client-centered work, and psychodynamic theory. As we get to know each other and your needs become clearer, I bring in other modalities as needed. I’m also trained in EMDR, and I’ve seen how helpful this deeper, more intensive method can be for many people..
